Today, I’m back home with my family. Six months ago in Afghanistan I was shot three times. As I was bleeding and slowly losing consciousness an Afghan civilian who I’ve never met carried me to safety and alerted a US medic of my whereabouts. I don’t even know his name, but he’s the only reason I’m alive to tell this story.
